Abogados españoles denuncian ante la ONU violaciones de la libertad religiosa en España

·     Presentan un informe con más de 150 violaciones del artículo 18 de la Resolución 217ª de la ONU.

·  Si España no toma medidas, podría ver comprometido su voto en la Comisión de Derechos Humanos.

16 DE MAYO DE 2011.- La Asociación Estatal de Abogados Cristianos (AEAC) ha interpuesto una denuncia con arreglo al prendimiento especial de conformidad con el “RELATOR ESPECIAL SOBRE LA LIBERTAD DE RELIGIÓN O DE CREENCIAS” establecido por la Comisión de Derechos Humanos en Resolución 1986/20.

La denuncia presenta más de 150 “violaciones reiteradas, persistentes y manifiestas de los derechos humanos relacionados con la libertad de religión o de creencias en España”.

En el informe se insta al Alto Comisionado para los Derechos Humanos la investigación de los hechos denunciados y a la interposición de sanciones contra el Gobierno de España, en caso de responsabilidad probada. Entre los hechos denunciados destacan declaraciones públicas de miembros del Gobierno o altos cargos como las palabras del excomisionado para las víctimas del terrorismo Peces-Barba, que declaró que los católicos “sólo entienden del palo” en referencias a las medidas que consideraba que se debían adoptar contra la Iglesia Católica.

También destacan las últimas acciones violentas contra templos católicos, como la colocación de artefactos explosivos en una iglesia de Majadahonda, los crecientes ataques a iglesias e imágenes religiosas, o la defenestrada procesión atea que llamaba a “castigar a la conciencia católica” y “hacer daño sin contemplaciones”.

Los denunciantes han señalado a través de su portavoz que esperan que el Alto Comisionado para los Derechos Humanos investigue esta “creciente oleada de ataques laicistas o antireligiosos” yobligue al Estado Español a cumplir con las resoluciones de la ONU en esta materia. En caso de comprobarse los hechos, las sanciones podrían contemplar la retirada del derecho a voto de España en la Comisión de Derechos Humanos, medida que solicitan los denunciantes.

UN Spanish lawyers lodge a complaint against religious freedom attacks in Spain

More than 150 complaints presented in a report, denounce the rising tide of religious freedom attacks by politicians and antireligious groups.

MAY 16, 2011.- The Spanish Christian Laywers Association  (SCLA) will lodge today a complaint under the special procedure “” una denuncia con arreglo al procedimiento especial de conformidad con el “SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR ON FREEDOM OF RELIGION OR BELIEF” established by the Commission Human Rights Resolution 1986/20.

The complaint has presented more than 150 "repeated violations, persistent and flagrant human rights related to freedom of religion or belief in Spain"

The president of CSSA, Mrs. Castellanos, said that "we wish to inform the international community that is growing the number of violations of religious freedom, which in many cases are not prosecuted, that is,  covered by the authorities of Spain."

The report urges the High Commissioner for Human Rights to investigate the allegations and bringing sanctions against the Government of Spain, if responsibility is proved. Among the allegations, it includes public statements by members of the government or officials, as the words of Peces-Barba, who declared that Catholics "only understand the stick" in reference to measures that it considered should be adopted against the Catholic Church.

Furthermore, they denounce  recent violent actions against Catholic churches, such as explosive devices placed in a church in Majadahonda (Madrid), the increasing attacks on churches and religious images, or the defunct atheist procession who call for "punishing the Catholic conscience" and " doing harm unceremoniously. "

Their spokeswoman expect the High Commissioner for Human Rights to investigate this "rising tide of attacks or anti-religious secularists" and force the Spanish State to comply with UN resolutions on this matter. If checked the facts, sanctions could include the withdrawal of voting rights of Spain State in the Human Rights Commission, as requested by the complainants.
